BUNDLING

Tele2 bundles Disney+

Tele2 and Disney has entered an agreement to offer Disney+ to Tele2 customers. This marks the first bundling deal for the streaming service in Sweden.

“The addition of Disney+ to the Tele2 portfolio enhances our ability to deliver exceptional entertainment to our customers. We are proud to be part of the first Swedish bundle collaboration with Disney+ and look forward to providing our viewers access to one of the world’s most compelling streaming services” says Hendrik de Groot, Chief Commercial Officer at Tele2.

Starting September 24th, Disney+ will be included in both Tele2’s TV and streaming packages for new customers. Existing streaming subscribers will also gain access to Disney+ on this date. For existing Tele2 TV subscribers, access to Disney+ will be rolled out and made available gradually. There will, however, be an option to upgrade to the new portfolio for immediate access.

Insikt TV & Streaming

This analysis covers both the TV- and streaming markets in Sweden. It rests on three pillars: the consumers, the market, and the actors. Analysing the consumers takes us far – but not all the way. Studying the actors and the market as a whole is just as important.

Tiktok shuts down music streaming service

There has been a lot of talk about Tiktok’s Spotify competitor, TikTok Music, and a possible expansion of the service. But now, Tiktok’s owner ByteDance is shutting down the service.

TikTok Music was rooted in ByteDance’s music streaming app Resso, which was first launched in India and Indonesia in 2019 and later expanding to Brazil. Last year, ByteDance converted Resso users in Brazil and Indonesia to TikTok Music users. Soon after this, TikTok Music expanded to Singapore, Australia, and Mexico.

But now, Tiktok music is to be shut down. After 28th of November, access to TikTok Music, including login, subscriptions, and all other functionalities, will no longer be available.

“We will be closing TikTok Music at the end of November in order to focus on our goal of furthering TikTok’s role in driving even greater music listening and value on music streaming services, for the benefit of artists, songwriters and the industry”, commented Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok.

SPORTS

Europa League kicks off tonight

Tonight, the new Europa league season kicks off. This also means that Disney+ kicks off its live sports investment in the Nordics. Earlier this year, Disney+ acquired the rights to the Europa and Conference league in Denmark and Sweden, for the upcoming three seasons.

Several Nordic teams are competing in Europa League this season. Midtjylland from Denmark, Bodø/Glimt from Norway and Elfsborg and Malmö from Sweden have all qualified.

Disney+ will be on-site at the stadiums for all games played in Sweden. When games are not played in Sweden, the main broadcast will be made from an inhouse studio, with reporters on site at the different arenas. Disney has presented extensive line ups of local commentators and experts for the coverage, in both Denmark and Sweden.

Just like the Champions league, both the Europa league and Conference league have an updated league phase, with more games for each team, as well as a combined league table instead of separate groups. In total, there are more than 340 live broadcast matches per season from the two leagues.

All Disney+ subscribers will have access to the matches in Denmark and Sweden, regardless of subscription type. In Finland and Norway, the Europa and Conference League can be watched on Viaplay as it renewed the rights to the tournaments earlier this year.

Close to two million 15-74-year-olds in the Nordics say they are interested in watching the Europa League via TV/online. This is presented in Mediavision’s Sports Analysis 2024.

Sports Analysis

For the fifth consecutive year, Mediavision presents the Sports Analysis. The analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the current Nordic sports rights market and an in-depth analysis of consumer interest, willingness to pay and pay rate. It covers 19 sports and +100 specific sports rights.
